What are you hoping to receive at Christmas?

For me, Christmas is about selecting the most perfect gift for someone. I take it fairly seriously. I like to shop for people. No, I LOVE to shop for people.

(Aside: If you know me, you get it; if you don’t know me personally you may consider commenting with the "real reason" for Christmas. Save it. I won’t lecture you if you won’t lecture me. This isn’t a touchy-feely Christmas post, it’s a greedy, commercial Christmas post.)

The problem I have is when my family asks me what I want for Christmas. I have everything I need or want. I really do. I have such an incredible family. My husband loves me, supports my blogging habit, and has a stable job. His main focus is our family and providing for us (and golf). My kids are good kids with imaginations that WOW me every day and a sense of humor to match.

My family, however, needs to know what to get for me. So I’m going to post my list here and ask you to help me think of more things to add. Why? Because it’s fun. We can always dream big even if we can’t get it. And I’m at a loss as to what to ask for other than the few things I’ll list below.

So here’s what I’d like for Christmas, family:

  • A very cool, hip, and awesome iPhone case. It needs to be functional (no flaps to open). Do you have any ideas where to find such an iPhone case? Because I’m at a loss. Except for the Noel, which is SWEET. And these fabric-over-plastic cases are kind of fashionable.
  • Pajamas. Not satin or silk. I prefer flannel or cotton. Fleece is OK. No nightgowns. Gah.
  • Curved Triple Frame from Crate&Barrel. I need four of these. I’m going to fill them with pictures of my two kids and my two nephews.

What are you asking or hoping for? I could use some more ideas. If you know of a great iPhone case, leave a link in the comments. If you have some great ideas for a present, tell me about it (with a link if you have it). I’d appreciate it. My family is about to strangle me because I can’t come up with anything.

Some women would probably be mad to receive this for Christmas but I really want (NEED) a new vacuum cleaner! I would be thrilled to get one! Two years ago, dear hubs got me a new riding lawn mower for our yard and I cried with joy. I’m weird like that! Give me an appliance or a power tool and I will love you forever! Happy Holidays!

For me, it’s pictures. Digital is wonderful, but I’m not always good about getting them printed, although I’m getting better. A gift card to your fav printing place or even a printer just for pictures. It will make it easier to fill your new frames! ;o)

Yep. I would kill for a new Oreck. I’m no Suzy Homemaker, but I’d try if I had an Oreck. ;)

Here’s the case that I have: http://iskin.com/store/i2shop_revo.tpl?cart=122884083873334
Now technically it’s for the 1st Gen iPhone. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mine (It’s Pink) and the holster for it. Though I don’t always use the top cover, I find the silicone skin to be the best option for me, since I drop stuff. A lot.
My mom has the 2nd Gen version (here: http://iskin.com/store/i2shop_revo2.tpl?cart=122884095473800 ) She likes it ok…just not a big fan of the colors it comes in. She says it functions basically the same as her previous model (one just like mine). Confused yet? Me too.
I have found that I don’t need total protection for the screen. If that’s an option for you, you can get any of the awesome skins that are out there. If you do want “full body protection” I don’t know what to tell you. I’ve never had one like that. Hope this helped!

If you go to skinit.com, you can create a custom iPhone skin for your iPhone. Just load up your juggling lady and your verbage and voila!

I’m like you – I LOVE to shop for people and especially love watching them open a present they truly love and are excited about. I always end up with a lot of the same things on my christmas list – new Dean Koontz book, Bath and Body Works stuff, etc. But this year I really want a foot massager. Not the kind with water in it, the other kind that has these massagy metal balls. Can’t wait to try it out!

Try this site for iPhone cases. They’re beautiful and durable: http://www.vajacases.com/home/home_en/

Emily,
Those are, indeed, very nice cases at vajacases. I’m not about to ask someone to spend $80-$220 on a case for phone, though. ;) LOL Holy canoli!

Night vision monocular. There’s stuff going on out there in the dark and I need to be able to see it. Actually, I already bought it for myself, and will wrap it up and put it under the tree for myself. I live alone! But I deserve this part of the joy too. . And least you think I’m “that kind of neighbor”, I’m the only one living in this square mile, and the main night time activity that I am curious about is the beavers building a mammoth dam on the creek on my property.

Ok, I am seriously exactly the same as far as shopping goes. I LOVE to shop, especially for others, and the best compliment to me is that ‘it was the perfect present’!
Obviously i don’t buy presents year round except for birthdays, so this is the most fun. In any case, some places I like to shop for those who have everything they need is Amazon — you can make a wish list and then Amazon makes suggestions. That is awesome. Also, especially for women, Etsy. So many great things. Jewelry, etc. :) I’ll bet you can find more things for your wish list on there.

I also love shopping for other people but have trouble when it comes to my list. Somehow though I can always find something for myself when I shop. Hmmmm.
I am asking for new slippers that have a sole-so I can go outside and get the mail, etc. Also I’ve gotten to asking for Gift Cards. I’m so stingy with our budget that the only time I buy for myself is either a NECESSITY or with a Gift Card. GCs to Barnes and Noble and Starbucks would be great-then I could get a coffee, wander around, then sit and read all for free! I usually love to get perfume too, but I got 3 bottles last year so I’m good on that. What about yummy fluffy new towels for your bathroom? or a robe? I know that they are totally cliche for Christmas but when they are on a list you might get the ‘upgrade’ rather than the plain that you might buy for yourself. A kitchen gadget that you love but would never spend the $ on? Or a splurge from Williams Sonoma?
Good luck! We’re actually not getting gifts for each other and saving for a big screen tv and a dvr. Whoot!

I want a griddle and gift cards to Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Not very exciting, I know.

eek, shriek, oh and ahh..
Wanna know what’s on my list?
I really, really want three Ridemakerz gift cards so we can all go build cars!
Oh. And I would love a very substantial gift card to Barnes and Noble :)
I’m glad YOU wrote the greedy post. It’s fun to be greedy!!

I have no idea. I have trouble coming up with a list too. I always say, “just take me to Dillards and buy me clothes.” How’s that for boring?
But I just had to say that I LOVE those triple curve frames from Crate and Barrell. Too. Cool.

I’m so bad, I go shopping for everyone and find everything for me! They have the CUTEST all in one pajamas at Target for grownup girls! And I got a GREAT King size fleece fuzzy blanket for my bed at Sam’s for $35.00 and I’m already using it and it is SO SOFT and warm! I’ve gotten everything that’s warm, because I’m keeping the thermostat down!

19 Jo-Lynne December 19, 2008 at 10:46 pm

Oh how I love pajamas. I have bought myself TWO pair this month. I know. Slap me. I’m bad. I have also bought 2 sweater dresses and a pair of boots this month. And three sweaters. So um, for Christmas, can someone just replenish my checking account? heehee.
