It’s true. There is a lot of weird stuff out there. I’d like to share it with you.
- Fractal Scene. I can’t remember if I found this via Twitter or Boing Boing. My kids giggled and giggled over this cool little optical illusion.
- Dog Drooling Slime found via Boing Boing. A Japanese game. The dog is sick. He’s drooling slime. The slime has germs in it. Get the germs out of the slime without getting the tweezers in the slime. Sort of like Operation, but not.
- Origami with DaVinci Robot via YouTube. Wow. Origami using operating tools? The crane he makes is about half the size of a penny!
- Typos a la Carte via Washington Post (can’t remember where I found the link). I edit every menu I read. I’m so glad I’m not alone.
- Gloucester Teens Had Pact to Get Pregnant found via kirtsy. Would SOMEBODY slap some sense into teenage girls and boys? Please?!? I would love to share another rant on how parenting is non-existant these days, but I know I’d be preaching to the choir. Sad.

Gloucester Teens Had Pact to Get Pregnant – I have to react to this.
Although it is great to be a mother. These teens have no idea what big responsibilities lies ahead of them. Unless they have financial security to support them.
Stuff White People Like had an article on “Menu Editing” yesterday, I think.
I can’t get past Typos on menus. It drives me INSANE.
I know that the Gloucester story is outrageous and has thrown the world for a loop, but please, don’t just pass judgements on the parents without understand that this is a really complex situation caused by much more than bad parenting. I posted about it yesterday. http://outtamymindwithworry.blogpsot.com
i posted about the gloucester girls yesterday. after waiting 13 years to be a parent, it’s horrifying that these kids treat life so flippantly. for what? some temporary attention and a baby shower?
I can’t believe that those girls did whatever they had to do to get pregnant, including sleeping with some 24 yr old homeless guy. I hope they find out who he is and arrest his sorry butt!
“Biri Biri Kaze Hiki Wanko,” which roughly translates to “shocking sick puppy.”
Yep….shocking sick puppy says it all.
As far as the Gloucester girls pact…so sad. So incredibly disturbing. I’ve seen this on so many blogs lately (I heard about via blog seeing as how we watch as little TV – and that includes news, as possible) and it breaks my heart that these girls have no clue what they are in for. They are children themselves, about to be raising children. So so sad. Gloucester, only two hours south of me, if so economically depressed as it is…I can’t see how these girls are going to escape that life and be able to offer anything more to their own children.
Just a note on the Gloucester girls. The Principal of the school went to the media (Time Magazine) but absolutely no solid proof has emerged of the event and even the principal was notably absent from today’s press conference. (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/1110ap_pregnancy_pact/)
While it is horrible that 17 girls became pregnant at this school, there is also the distinct possibility that it was merely horrible judgment rather than a pact. As a teacher, I’m appalled at the current state of behavior in even middle school children. The drawings I’ve had to remove from desks and books of 6th graders are truly shocking. I agree that parenting is a serious issue in this case and if some of the parents of my students are an example, it is unfortunately not a rarity. There is really no excuse for a young girl to get pregnant with current pharmaceuticals, but those are worthless if the parents haven’t instilled a sense of responsibility in them to begin with.
