Halloween 2007

Oh my word, but Halloween was a hoot around here. We had Charlotte’s and Anne’s families over for pizza, then the men folk took the chilluns Trick-or-Treating while us women had wine and laughed. If Charlotte and Anne give me permission, I’ll post pictures of costumes later. In the mean time I’ll share mine with you.  Here are all the kids in their Halloween glory:

The day before Halloween I was the Mystery Reader in Wild Thing’s class. I dressed myself up with stuff I already had (semi-formal black dress, black heels, shawl) and a fantastic hat my mother made for me. The shawl was necessary because, although I lost about 13 pounds last year, I have since gained them all back. That translates to more cleavage–both back and front. Second graders should never be subjected to that. Thus the shawl.

Here I am relaxing on the couch. The shoes hurt my feet so I went sans shoes. Don’t hate me because my toes are absolutely perfect.

Alas, as I was putting make-up (makeup? compound or hyphenated, y’all?) on the goblins I sat my fat hiney on the tube of OPEN white face make-up. It squirted all over the sofa and my dress. Not fun. Tip: Bathrooms are excellent places for applying make-up. Leather sofas while drinking wine, not so much. Your welcome.

So I had to change into another costume. This one, at least, was more comfortable.

Did you all have a great Halloween?

Your halloween sounds fabulous! Well, except for that bit about the make-up on the couch. Compound or hyphenated? No idea. And I was an ENGLISH major for goodness sakes. Let’s blame the lapse of knowledge on the thirty-some snickers bars I consumed yesterday…

What a great costume, you look great!
And what is that skin cream on your face? Because I will use it if my face can look as clear as yours. WOW!

Wasn’t this a great year for Halloween? I don’t know if it was more fun because there was a 3YO about who was totally into it or if it was because the weather in the southwest was fabulous.
Love your costumes. Making mental note to self about face paint and leather sofa.

Really? Because I’ve always felt that on a leather sofa with a glass of wine was the best way to do just about anything.
It is not right that you look that cute with Pond’s smeared all over your face. You look gorgeous in that picture over at Shalee’s too, and as for your comment indicating otherwise…
…please.

That cheerleader looks downright EVIL!

I wear that costume every day – why don’t I get candy every day?

Ours was fantastic, but yours seemed so much better with the sitting down/drinking wine bit… leaving out the makeup bit in that scenario though.
Me? I went to hit the street that caters to the parents as well as candy to the kids. I’m now in love with Bailey’s Chocolate Mint Irish Creme. (And it didn’t come in a brilliant container like your last creme liquer.)
(I’m totally finishing Jeana’s comment and laughing as I go.)
