While I was hanging out with these hooligans a few weeks ago, Husband stayed behind and entertained the kids. As a rule, he’s much more fun than I am because he actually plays with them. I, on the other hand, constantly nag them to clean their rooms, change the litter box, and get me a beer some iced tea. Then, after those horses are sufficiently beaten, stuffed, and beaten again I ask if they don’t want to go outside to play with the neighbor. See how none of that engages me? Husband is much more hands-on.
While I was eating too much cheese and drinking just enough wine, he was taking the kids to an air show to see the Blue Angels. Frankly, I was a little disappointed I missed it. I luh-huv the Blue Angels. And the Thunderbirds, but they weren’t there. It was a huge surprise to us that the Blue Angels were even going to be in our area, let alone that Husband could score tickets on short notice.
If you have never seen the Blue Angels, you must. I know air shows are loud and, for most of us (sorry, Dad), boring. BUT if the Blue Angels are there? Totally worth it. These are some seriously talented fellas. I wish I had the words to describe the thrill of watching them fly upside down right next to each other. Or fly in choreographed unison. Or sneak up behind you so fast that you can’t hear them because they broke the sound barrier and when the sound catches up, it catches you so off guard you jump out of your seat. In short, the Blue Angels will give you goosebumps as soon as they introduce Fat Albert. Don’t bother with the excuses, please. Just buy some earplugs and get out to see the Blue Angels!

There is nothing better than a good air show.
Well, nothing except a beer and some peace and quiet.
Funny they were just here over the weekend. I posted about it on my site – their flight path is down our street, then out over the ocean. We get to watch them for four days…. It was AWESOME.
I grew up on a base where the Blue Angels trained. I had the distinct pleasure of watching them often. There were quite the sight to behold!
I really like the blue angels shows – I want to be terrified of the noise, but the show is too incredible!
Years ago, I bought a watch because it had all sorts of dials and displays and it looked like just the thing a geek like me would wear.
When I got it home, I realized it had a very subtle Blue Angels logo on it. I did some more reading, and realized that all pilots on the team wear this watch.
Yeah, kinda lame, but it helped me feel connected to them.
I’m Canadian, and as such have seen our Snowbirds perform on a number of occasions. They never fail to give me chills when they fly past. Their training and sheer skill are inspirations to us all. Here’s the link:

I’m already scanning the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds schedules next year to see when they’ll be performing near our border.
