I’m getting my hair cut on Wednesday. I am having my mullet chopped off. Let us have a moment of silence for the mullet. OH, I’M OVER IT! I’m tired of looking like Billy Ray Cyrus’ favorite niece.
The mullet is throwing off my groove. Here’s the irony: I’m cutting the mullet so I can grow out the rest of my hair. You see, the back of my hair is so long that it’s actually scraggly–which is no small feat when you’re talking about hair as thick as mine. When I wear my baseball cap–which I like to do A LOT–I look like maybe my dental work shouldn’t be as good as it is. Never fear, though, the sides have grown out much since that photo I linked to above. That picture I linked to is about two months old. All parts of my hair (except the mullet, which has exceeded expectations) are now long enough to reach my chin.
I am going for a bob. Believe it or not, I don’t think I’ve ever had a bob in my life (or a Steve or a Jay or a Tim for that matter, but I digress). So I ask you, dear virtual friends, what do you think?
1. Happy-Go-Lucky bob with some layers in the back
2. That wasn’t even CLOSE to funny bob w/o that chunk hanging down in the back
3. Now is the time on Sprockets when we dance! bob with the added bonus that my left eye will be stronger than my right
4. Deer in headlights bob
5. I don’t like to be ignored
Dan!bob (I promise I won’t make hossenfeffer after my appointment.)6. The one my husband HATES
Let me throw out this caveat: I really do want to know what you think, but I will probably always end up doing what strikes my fancy.

I’m saying #1, only becasue I have incredibly thick hair with a wee bit of wave to it.
Although it’s near mid-back length now, I did have a #1 several years ago. Shorter in the back, liner in the front. About 3 inches below my chin in front. It was perfect for my hair type.
It’s hard to have a straight even bob with thick hair, forget thick hair with waves not professionally put there all nice and even. It tended to get pyramid shaped and I looked like a dork. Or Roseann Roseanna Danna.
Good luck!
I like #2, although I was inclined to vote for #3 just for the Sprockets reference!
Good luck!
I can’t give advice yet, I’m still mourning the mullet.
I went with the one your husband hates. Because I really do like it best and think it would suit you.
I’m ready to go for a bob. I just need to wait until I can justify another trip to the hairdresser’s, seeing as how I went twice last month.
I’m sorry your husband hates it … I like it alot!! It looks the most feminine to me.
)
None of these looks is all that compatible with the ball cap thing, but we’ll not address that here . . . guess I just did : )
With what looks to be natural curl even with the mullet, you’re going to find the one your husband hates the easiest to do and keep. Moms with natural wave do NOT have time for high maintenance straightening every day — at least this mom doesn’t.
Must show “after” photos, you know : )
It just so happens that a girlfriend and I went to get haircuts last weekend. She got the most adorable bob and I didn’t. Maybe I don’t know how to fix it yet — but I’ve got the basic “helmet head” look. But my hair is super thin, so if you’ve got thick hair — you must Bob. I voted for Sprockets, but any would be good.
I love all the choices, but I know that if you have any natural wave in those lovely locks of yours, you will make yourself batty trying to achieve the ultimate straightness of most of the looks you have chosen. (I speak from experience, on this one. It is almost as though you have been looking over MY shoulder in the salon!)
BUT I am sure that you will look darling, no matter which style you finally settle on. As for dear Hubby, he will surely love it too, just because it is you sporting that cute new “do”.
I didn’t vote, but here’s my two cents.
First, good call by your husband.
Second, my best friend’s sister just got a cut she describes as Posh Spice meets Katie Holmes meets Jenny McCarthy and it is darling.
Third, beware of a bob with no layers. It can end up looking like a mushroom cap.
The one that Hubby hates, ’cause you can pull it off with the thickness and texture of your hair
You have curly hair – you have to go with the lats one, the one hubs hates (of course), otherwise you’ll spend your life trying to get your hair to do what it does not want to do. And! I am getting my hair cut on Wed too and getting a new do – we’ll have to compare notes. I’m thinking short and boyish, but we’ll see. I’m a jellyfish and am easily talked out of and into hairdos. (Do people still say hairdo? Gawww I’m old) Also, I went to instyle.com and uploaded a photo and tried on celebrity hair-dos and hilarity ensued. Antique Witherspoon, Antique Alba – not quite the same and even sad in a way.

Voted for the one your husband hates – I can see you in it. He’ll get used to it. Men have no wisdom in these matters…..
The one hubs hates — that one actually looks the most like you. I didn’t vote for it, though. I voted for #2!
I voted for #5, but really, 4 and 5 are essentially the same. 5 is just more styled than 4. I have a bob similar to those styles and I love it. It is fuss-free and easy to style. Good luck choosing and of course we will want to see results.
I reallay like #2 (I already cast my vote) just a note though, to look like that you have to have thick hair. I know, because I do NOT have thick hair and my hair NEVER looks like those awesome pictures with the thich gorgeous hair. I think I picked hairstyles b/c I liked the way the hair looked, but your style doesn’t turn out the same if you have a considerable amount more or less hair than the person in the picture. [excuse my grammer because I'm not really sure I worded that last sentence correctly]
i must admit i voted for number 2 when i really liked the one your husband hates…i just couldn’t bring myself to cause marital strife:-) good luck. i hate the haircut decision myself so i just leave it long.
All cute, but I like number 1, although if your hair is curly it will never look like that and the chunk will become your nemesis.
Ooo, number six. Sorry, hubby. But I’ve a feeling those other five will simply fall into your face — well, they would mine, unless I used spackle.
Hate to break it to your husband, but with curly hair, the last one is probably the only one that will work for you, unless you want to spend a whole lotta time blowing it out every morning.
Good luck!
