I just returned from what was supposed to be a fifteen minute–at the most!–jaunt to Jo-Ann’s Fabrics. You know the drill. An hour and a half later…
Look at the wunnerful things I bought, though! (I’m still getting used to my camera and not using flash–long story for another day–so please forgive the blurriness.)
Above you see the stack-o-stash. That’s what $40 of sale fabric looks like, folks. Next to it you see what will be several bags. The large pieces of fabric are the outside of the bags, the smaller fabric sticking out will be the liner. Aren’t they beautiful?!?
Above you see close-ups of some of the fabric. That yellow fabric is not my style, but I bet somebody will love it. It’s so happy and citrus-y!
Above are two bags I’m currently working on. They just need their handles and they’ll be done! Beside them is more fabric I bought tonight, but I didn’t look for liners are handle fabric. Some of them (like the pink) will be liners for other bags when I find the right fabric.
What prompted this splurge? Well, I’ll tell ya. Jo-Ann’s is having a sale like none I’ve seen before (but, then, I don’t always pay attention because I’m like that). We are talking 50% off the lowest clearance price, people. That fabric you see? Most of it was $1/yard or $1.50/yd. Mmmmmhmmmm. That’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout.
I’ll post pictures of the bags as I finish them!

Extreme coolness, Chili! And I think the photos look great.
I used to work there in high school, back when JoAnns was Clothworld (the one on 21st street – is it still next to Target and across from the mall?) I loved the sales and even got an additional 20% off. I’m sure some of my current stash is carried over from way back then (ahem)…
Mmmmmm….I’ll meet you there tomorrow….
Where do I put in my order for some bags?
Next time you are in Dallas I will take you fabric shopping.
Very fun!!!
Bags! I love bags!! I could be the “bag lady”, but that title belongs to my favorite Food Network doll — Paula Deen, tho’ she’s not that anymore.
Anyway, I’m like Antique Mommy, how can I make an order for such cuteness. I need a new library bag in the worst way ; ) I like pinks– a whole lot, though apple green is one of my new faves too. Just dropping those subtle hints, you know . . . Email me, and we’ll see if we can work out a deal.
Those bags are so cute, I love the idea and the fabrics you’ve chosen. I love the mod prints you’ve chosen!
Uh, sorry. I typed and posted that while distracted, I didn’t mean to be so redundant. (wanders off muttering about being a goober)
WHAT a talent! i feel the same way about pretty papers as you do about fabric i think.
I’m begging for a place to place an order as well. I love the fabrics you have chosen. Do you only make bags for friends/family as gifts?
Nice fabric!! You are making want to go get a machine so bad.
