I finally got around to setting up my Google homepage. It’s a lot like Yahoo’s homepage in that if offers pods of information with headlines so you can scan things quickly and click on what you’re interested in.
I have several news pods, my e-mail, some Google reader stuff (still not convinced it’s better than my Bloglines, which lets me clip things into folders to save them for later), the weather, my To Do list, etc. One thing I put on my page is "How to of the Day" (sic). Because, you know, it’s good to know how to do stuff. Today I received my first how-to.
How to be Charming. The article provides an overview, a bulleted list, warnings, and even a Things You’ll Need list (one of which is an ‘arsenal of creative compliments on the spot’). Which, of course, is funny because if you have an arsenal of compliments, you aren’t really coming up with them on the spot, now, are you? And has anyone else noticed that the first half of arsenal is ‘arse’ which is the Brit way of saying ‘ass’? And we all know what I’m leading up to…don’t we?
Apparently I could have been charismatic, popular, cool, and sexy if I had just taken the time to read the Wikis on those subjects. Man. So many years wasted.

I am cracking up. This is like Pride and Prejudice, when Mr. Collins comes to dinner and Mr. Bennet keeps asking him all these tongue-in-cheek questions to see how much of an…well, arse he will make of himself and if he’ll ever realize the joke.
Well, from my comment you can’t see the connection, but if you ever saw the seen you would.
Oh good grief. SCENE. If you have ever SEEN the SCENE.
I’ll just go back to chewing on straw now.
I love my Googly Home Page. I set it to some kind of season and time-of-day thing so that if it’s night, the little critters are all roasing marshmallows. In the afternoon, they’re on the slip-n-slide.
It’s the little things, people.
Oh, and on How to be Charming? Did they mention shooties? Shooties are charming! Think of the conversational possibilities!
This concludes today’s installment of Bringing Shooties to the World, One Inane Blog Comment At A Time.
I love google home page because it lets you do a lot more than Yahoo does and it updates constantly. I also put on the Weight Watchers points gadget on my google home page and it is WONDERFUL
Oh, THANK you! I just set up my homepage and it was so easy! And who knew I could get Chuck Norris facts, Crock pot recipes and Fox news together on the same page?
“The article provides an overview, a bulleted list, warnings…..”
Charming people should come with warnings. Woulda saved me a lot of trouble in my teen years….
Charm is over-rated. Wit is much finer.
