My Husband ROCKS

For about a week now, Husband has been teasing me with the fact that he has booked a trip for us in a few weeks. He wouldn’t tell me where we are going or what we are doing.

Last night, though, he could wait no longer. I was bugging the bejeebus out of him and he was too proud of himself not to share. Those two things together broke him.

This is what my husband has done:

  • He has listened to my offhand comments about things I love.
  • He has made phone calls and researched things.
  • He has planned.
  • And my friends? He has scored a home run.

In May we are taking a short flight to Dallas.

We will check in to The Four Seasons!

We will arrive early enough that I will have time for lunch and laughter with Emily while Husband golfs (which is absolutely fine with me and I want him to).

I must be back at 12:30 to check in for my spa appointment–which he has already booked!

We will have dinner somewhere. Neither of us knows or cares where. I’m sure we can find something at the hotel. Who can even eat dinner when you know what’s coming next? So…we’ll eat dinner. Somewhere.

Then?

THEN?

THEN?

Then we are going to a Harry Connick, Jr. concert.

And sitting five rows from the stage.

I will be close enough to catch his sweat. If I were a freak. Which I’m not. So I can say that without weirding you out, right?

I am simply squealing with delight, y’all.

Squealing!

With delight!

And my husband did all this by himself!

As a secret!

For me!

I’m telling you. I LOVE THAT MAN!

But what, I ask you, am I going to wear?

Oh, I got jealous at the spa appt and then, my goodness, Harry????? What a lucky gal you are. Harry concerts are the best. I have been blessed to go to 3! Only one did I drag my hubby to (while I was 6 months pregnant). Know what he did? Fell asleep! That’s right. Head nodding and everything. But at least it meant he wasn’t complaining right :-) Can’t wait to hear all about it!

Since you’ll be in Dallas you need sequins. Lots of sequins. And hairspray. And I can’t believe you’d rather see HCJr rather than AM. Un. Believable. :)

Um, I think I love your husband too. Mine would never do that. Never. But he does do dishes, so I can’t complain.

Wow!!!!!

How exciting! Are you staying at the 4 Seasons in Las Colinas? There are lots of fantastic restaurants around there, presumably one or two in the hotel itself. I say you wear some fancy jeans, smokin’ shoes and a cute button-down or v-neck shirt to the concert, but that is just me. You know in Dallas you can always get away with fancy jeans! :)
Have fun! What a great husband!

16 Shalee April 24, 2007 at 10:23 am

Oh yes he ROCKS! A trip with all the trimmings AND Harry Connick Jr.? Girl you are going to have such a grand time! You should call AM and have her JOIN you for the spa thing. You might even give her a few more pointers on being in your band…
(And Harry -we’re on a first name basis, don’t you know – is such a fabulous, real, down to earth performer. I can garrointee(!) that you will love him all the MORE after seeing him. How do I know? Mr. Right planned the same kind of trip for me a few years ago and it was so worth the money. Yay Chili! Yay even more to Husband!)
And what to wear? Anything that will come off easily when you’re back at the hotel because girl, Harry is going to get you in the MOOD!

17 emily April 24, 2007 at 12:47 pm

Oh, that sounds so wonderful! My husband and I saw Harry in concert in 1990 when we had just started dating. He did all those great songs from the When Harry met Sally Soundtrack and it was so much fun. You are going to have a great time for that whole trip! You have are married to a great guy!
